SUNOCO NAMED OFFICIAL FUEL AND ROOKIE SPONSOR

AT MONTGOMERY MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Montgomery, Al. (Feb 15 2010) – Sunoco, The Official Fuel of NASCAR, has also been named the Official Fuel of Montgomery Motor Speedway for the 2010 racing season.

In addition to being named the “Official Racing Fuel” of the revitalized 1/2 – mile speedplant, Sunoco fuel distributor Shorty Bearden of Eastman, Ga. has agreed to sponsor a “Show Me The Money” Rookie of the Year program at the track.

“We are ecstatic about what Bobby and Mark Knox have accomplished at Montgomery in just one year of operation,” said Bearden, who has been a fuel supplier in the Southeastern Region of the country for many years.  There has been so much talk in racing circles about the condition of the facility and the idea the Knox’s developed with their “Show Me The Money” events, we wanted to play a small role in helping to build the track back to its glory days of year’s past by providing this program for new competitors.”

The ROY program will reward the highest finishing Sunoco rookie candidate, in a race, ten points with a one point declining scale to all other contenders.  If there are more than 10 rookie contenders in an event, those finishing as the 10th or lower will receive one point.  Points are only awarded to rookie contenders who qualify and start an event.

The highest finishing Sunoco rookie candidate will receive $100 for his/her accomplishment at each event with the Sunoco Rookie of the Year winner receiving $1,000 and a Sunoco Racing Jacket at the end of year awards banquet.

“There has been a great deal of interest shown by many young drivers desiring to move up to Late Model competition at this outstanding facility,” said Bill Desmond, long time racing publicist.  “We wanted to show these young drivers we care about their development and to reward them for supporting Montgomery.  Racing is an expensive sport so when I approached Shorty Bearden about the idea of a rookie program he did not hesitate to come on board,” continued Desmond.

The Sunoco ROY program is designed to reward those who are true rookies.  Should a driver desire to compete for this honor, they must submit an application for eligibility then be considered by the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Panel.
