Clements grabs ARCA win at Nashville Superspeedway

Jeremy Clements fought off the heat and 39 other cars to overcome the heartbreak of losing Pocono last week when his car ran out of gas with the checkered flag in sight to win the Toyota 150 at Nashville Superspeedway.

Clements, who races for what he describes as a “low budget team”, was the 11th different winner in 15 ARCA RE/MAX Series races this year.

In the points picture, Frank Kimmel also got a measure of victory by adding to a precarious points lead over Michael McDowell. The young driver from Phoenix, AZ, made a spectacular recovery, after going a lap down, only to have his car experience mechanical failure with less than eight laps to go.

Running just behind Kimmel, McDowell had the points lead in site, but now will have to battle Kimmel on the dirt of Springfield.

“Michael had some bad luck today,” Kimmel said in a post race interview, “but he’ll bounce back just like we did this week. We were wrecked at Pocono and brought a back-up car here. Our new car didn’t arrive until yesterday, so it work out okay.”

Kimmel not only started a new car, he picked up a new sponsor. Town and Country Ford, located in Madison, TN was the ARCA champion’s primary sponsor for the Nashville race.

Bryan Clauson, who led early in the race, finished second, just a blink in front of Kimmel.

Rounding out the top ten where Cale Gale in 4th, Brain Keselowski, 5th, followed by Erin Crocker, Dexter Bean, Michael Annett, Blake Feese and Robb Brent.

Deborah Renshaw started 21st and was moving up in the field when smoke trailed from her on lap 13. After spending several laps in the pits, she recovered nicely to finish 26th.

Clay Greenfield, driving a Wayne Day owned car missed the race after crashing while attempting to qualify.
